This is “Rupture.” I recorded the recent destruction and rebuild. Start with ‘After the Second Shock Wave.’ It’s all about feeling the aftershocks, the raw buzz that doesn’t fade. Then there’s ‘Désormais, an Extra Toothbrush,’ about what remains when someone else doesn’t—like an extra toothbrush that’s still here. ‘…And the Gentler Waves’ captures the constant back and forth that never seemed to cease but surely gets weaker with each wave. ‘Names Underwater’—the last track produced for the album—views the entire experience from underwater, feeling the void and the new water pouring in. And it ends with ‘A Million More Blooms,’ a track that’s about hope, bursting through the dirt and blooming right on top of it.
